Why We Built This Site
Michigan makes many court case records available to the public, but Kent County does not have one clerk who holds every type of case. The County Clerk/Register of Deeds serves as the Circuit Court clerk, the Probate Court has its own register, and each District Court keeps its own case history. A case search can therefore depend on the court level, case type, and the location where the matter was filed. This resource gathers official routes, terminology, and contact details so a reader can begin with the right office.
What You Will Find Here
- Case pathways: how to use the Kent County case lookup by name or case number
- Docket types: how criminal docket searches and civil docket searches differ
- Hearing information: how to locate a setting through Kent County court dates
- Clerk-held files: how to request Kent County court records and certified copies
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not a Michigan court, clerk, or government agency. The following work remains with the official court:
- Issuing an official register of actions, court file, or certified copy
- Changing, setting, or confirming a hearing date
- Sealing, correcting, or altering a court record
- Giving advice about a pending matter or legal deadline
- Confirming a record when a clerk or court has updated its procedures
Only the clerk or court that maintains a Kent County case can provide an official or certified copy. Confirm a record, deadline, or hearing setting with that office.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search tools provided by outside companies. Those providers operate under their own terms, price their own services, and control their own results. A paid signup through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports this resource. It does not make a result official or replace confirmation from the court that holds the record.
